Tianyu Zhang

I am currently a PhD candidate at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). I am supervised by Prof. Jian Guo and funded by Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship. I received my BSc in Math from NTU in 2023 with KK Pua Gold Medal and Ng Kong Beng Best Project Prize. I am an alum of Tianjin Nankai High School.

My research interests lie in quantum-safe cryptography, with a focus on symmetric-key algorithms. I have specialized in the cryptanalysis of international cryptographic standards, evaluating their security in practical instantiations and against a range of attack scenarios in both classical and quantum settings. My work has set and sustained multiple records in the cryptanalysis of AES and SHA-2. I am also interested in low-latency cipher design, hash-based and symmetric-key-based signatures, and privacy-preserving technologies.

Last time I checked, my Erdős number was 4.
